| The recent drastic price drop across all categories of scavenged materials led many scavengers–a significant portion being elders–into increasingly intensive fights for the materials. Apparently for scavengers the bliss points on their labor supply curves are relatively low on the income scale.

| 我喜歡這樣的統總。
昨天(10日)是馬政府上任後的第一次國慶，不曉得馬英九總統是不是因為對很多細節還不習慣，在昨天的國慶大會上，不但被夫人周美青拍了幾下，才回過神來跟民眾揮手，連在國慶酒會時，馬總統也因為咬車輪餅咬得太大口了，吃相難看，被太座周美青唸了幾句。
總統夫人周美青為什麼臉色這麼難看呢？原來都是為了馬總統。國慶酒會的典禮上，只見馬總統可能餓壞了，不但開心地大快朵頤，尤其吃到車輪餅這道點心的時候，更是張大了嘴，想要一口就把整個車輪餅給吞下肚，似乎已經忘了一旁還有外賓在，讓夫人周美青忍不住皺起眉頭，還瞪了馬總統一眼，彷彿是在對老公說，「你也吃小口一點嘛，怎麼吃相這麼難看呢？」
第一次以元首身分出席國慶活動，馬總統似乎還不習慣，頻頻快凸槌，例如國慶大典結束時，總統跟總統夫人依慣例與南區的貴賓一一握完手之後，還要向位在總統府南方的民眾揮揮手，但這時，馬總統卻頭也不回的往前走，夫人周美青及時拉了他一把，馬總統還是沒回神，周美青再拉、再拉，還拍了一下他的手，馬英九這時才微笑向大家揮手致意，不過周美青口中已經開始念念有詞了。
國慶這麼重要的大日子，馬總統卻沒有掌握好一些小細節，難怪第一夫人周美青得像個保母一樣，不時對老公耳提面命。(新聞來源：東森新聞)
